That’s what many of Santos players were saying as they passed by the RM Invitational Crown on the way to practice Sunday. Rick Astley was not present, but he certainly would have been impressed by the Brazilians’ desire to not give up in their quest for the title. Certainly, the past two games have made it harder.
The first game of the week saw Santos winning streak ended by FC Greatness, through a last minute header. The second game saw the ‘Yellow Submarine’ draw AFC Stanley 1-1 at Garden Street. With Thundercats winning, the lead between first and second has been stretched to six points. Nonetheless, manager Sean7 was still upbeat about the team’s chances.
‘We feel we’ve survived our worst week, and although ideally we would’ve liked to have gotten 6 points, we at least kept the games close, unlike the start of the season. I’m elated with our defence as well. They’ve kept us in our games. Now we feel like we’ve faced the worst of the storm. Certainly, there are some tough fixtures coming up, but I would like to think we’ve learned from our defeats.’
