Good afternoon Stripy8, manager of Los Samgeles Kings in division 2.
Q: You are currently in seventh place after a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid and in division 2 season 3 this means you are in the title race. With just a couple of games to go it might be decided in the very last dying moments of play. Do you feel confident in Los Samgeles Kings upcoming fixtures and how would you sum up your season so far?
A: Even though we are currently in 7th place, we are only 5 points off top spot. So it is still possible. Our season has been up at down so far. We had a very good unbeaten streak at the start of the season which lasted 6 games but we ended that fantastic run with a 5 game run without a win.We need to get some good results in upcoming games, especially against AJ Rovers. But we have confidence in this fixture as we drew 0-0 with them at their ground so we look forward to hosting them in the next game.
Q: Indeed, you´ve got a big match coming up against Rovers who are currently at the top of the league. With Ron Blake injured, how do you feel about such an important match? How do you prepare for matches normally and is there any difference now with four games to go?
A: We have watched Rovers over the last few games and we are prepared for this big game. The players have been training hard so we can at least make the top 3. But league champions are not out of the question yet.
Q: With a lot of players risking suspension you have a famously sadistic referee in Frank Redkard who has been known to like the attention of a crowd despite the fact that it is usually negative. Is it something you are considering when talking to the lads before the match, to ease up on the tackling?
A: Players risking suspension is not an issue for me. As long as they are playing well and have good form, They will play regardless of the risk of suspension. We will do whatever it takes to win and if players get suspended by doing so, we can replace them in the next game.
Q: Dustin Brown is clearly your greatest star with fourteen nominations in the xperteleven but is also part of a golden generation growing more silver for each passing season. With most of your quality players over or near 30, are you happy with just the one retirement?
A: Most of my older players (if not all of them) were already kings players when I took this job.I Started with an old team who were already relegated and had a very poor budget so we had no choice but to keep our experienced players and its turned out ok so far.Eventually they will be replaced. With the exception of Dustin Brown and whoever earns the right to stay.
Q: What are your thoughts on the age factor of the game?
A:I like to have a reletively young side usually with a couple of "Golden Oldies" but I have not yet had enough time or money to build the side I would like.Make do with what you've got is something I like to say. I stuck around when most managers would have bowed out when they saw the state the club was in.
Thank you Stripy8, and good luck on Friday!
