Bristol City boss Paul Stevenson is a happy man this week after his team managed to draw two away games to maintain there unbeaten start to the season. In matches where the away team was considered the underdog, the manager confounded critics by blooding some of his summer youth signings, despite this being regarded as managerial suicide.
'I have faith in my youth players' the manager said. 'They may not be the most skillful in the league but they perform when they need to. Take Ramão Graciete for example. Only 17 years old playing his second game for us. Our stalwart freekick taker Stephen Julius is injured so I ask him to take them for us. The match is about to end and in the 88th minute he has to take a freekick from just inside the oppositions half. Up he jogs to the ball and the next minute the ball is in the back of the net. The Yorkshires Amateurs keeper Carpenter does not stand a chance. I love that lad, he has had his pocket money allowance increased for the next few weeks'.
Next up is the West Brom Strollers. 'I don't expect an easy game but we should be able to pick up at least a point against them. I may even blood new boy Jimmy Rankine up front now his form has picked up a bit'.
