Manchester United hit top spot at the perfect time to win the Division Two title. A tight match with Real Madrid held a lot of tension as supporters listened out for news of Kirkbride. Young superstar Mohammed Khadduri was to be the hero with a stunning 38th minute free-kick which left Nersesian helpless. Madrid found it hard to penetrate a tough United outfit and when news filtered through that Kirkbride had suffered a surprise defeat the party well and truly had begun. After a comfortable mid-table finish Real Madrid can hope to push on in Season Three but this day was purely about United as they brought an end to a brilliant campaign in the best possible way.
Kirkbride Strollers were the side who suffered as Kroklund inflicted a surprise 2-1 defeat on them. A very even game had an early goal through Jorma Vuohenoja as a shock was on the cards. Kirkbride haven't got where they have without a backbone, however, and they fought all the way to the end. They looked to have given themselves a lifeline when Ian Irvine headed in a dramatic 89th minute equaliser but heartbreak was just round the corner. A minute later Vuohenoja picked up the ball from deep before hitting in an unstoppable shot that left Kirkbride on their knees. Jazza1958 was keen to send his best to the other managers after a long season, "Good luck to all the managers from league 2 for next season, this has been a most enjoyable series." Kirkbride, despite this setback, will surely challenge the best Division One has to offer while Kroklund look to be in good shape to bounce straight back following relegation.
The Vikings suffered a last day defeat to Los Samgeles Kings but it didn't stop the promotion celebrations in Viking Land. The game was overshadowed by two serious injuries, one to either side. Melker Ahlm and Anze Kopitar the unfortunate duo whose futures could now depend on what awaits them in the change report. The game itself didn't have many chances but Los Samgeles shaded those that were. The winner came in the 55th minute when Michal Handzus finished well from a breakaway move to give the loyal band of away support a lasting memory of an otherwise forgettable season. Finishing rock-bottom Los Samgeles will be keen to see the back of the campaign but following the appointment of Stripy things are looking much brighter. Eaglesrjh will now move onto preparing his side for the new season after admitting that this game would "feature every player not yet at 100% match experience."
Liverpool and Pahang United played out a goalless draw as they finished fourth and fifth respectively. Pahang were guilty of numerous indiscretions as referee Frank Redkard was kept busy. Liverpool News summed up the game perfectly saying it was an 'anticlimax.' Manager Buttons clarified their off-season plans, "The boys will go for a weeks holiday before reporting back for the pre-season tournament against other teams in the league."
AJ Rovers and Kensington Boys Club played out an entertaining 2-2 draw to bring their seasons to a close. Kensington raced into a seventh minute lead when Aubrey de Vere headed in. They were to make another of their three chances count as Cameron Nowell fired in from distance at the start of the second-half to put them 2-0 ahead and looking good for the points. AJ stormed back, though, and when Gregory Rowling headed in you sensed the belief in the team rise. Darcy Clare duly equalised just after the hour as they ensured they would gain a point to finish their season. They will hope for better things next season while Kensington will look to establish themselves in a lower division following their relegation.
