Totaal Zero

Totaalvoetbal went level on points with Hun Haters after drawing 0-0 with AS Roma.

A disallowed goal and a couple of missed chances were the major talking points for Totaal as they huffed and puffed but lacked any real quality.

The game started at a sedate pace and never really quickened although chances were created. From a free-kick Verner Megenklint had a headed chance but put it wide when it looked easier to score.

Totaal were to have their first sight of goal on 32 minutes when Lars Boeckx tried an ambitious chip. Seizing an opportunity to get his face in the papers, Cecil Abrey seemed to hold his dramatic pose as he dealt with the attempt.

Shortly before half-time Pierre van Diemen's header was saved as the visitors looked for a breakthrough.

The second-half didn't produce much of a better spectacle as both sides seemed to cancel each other out.

Johnny Douglas' side-footed shot flew over the bar in a rare home attack.

Abbas Erol delivered a corner after 70 minutes and when Johan Juffing directed the ball on goal it looked like Totaal had the opener. He didn't notice that he was stood in an offside position, though, and the goal was chalked off.

Erol was, by this point, having a major influence on the game and he met a good van Diemen cross to power in a header that had the Roma defence beaten but rebounded clear from the bar.

On 90 minutes Roma had the chance to pinch the points. Sid Peyton cracking in a shot from distance but Keizer dealt with it comfortably.

"It's a point that has taken us level with HH." began Meeblind.

"Therefore, it has to be looked upon as a point gained.

"When you look at what Roma have done, they've beaten ThunderCats, taken points off ourselves and Hun Haters. It might make Cathal wonder what might have been.

"They should be favourites next season though.

"As for ourselves what more can you ask for? We're level on points with the leaders and have two games to go. We're relishing the challenge."
