Amateurs snatch opening day win

The Yorkshire Amateurs continued where they had left off in pre season with a hard fought 1-0 victory over AFC Stanley earlier today. A stunning goal on the stroke of half time from new striker Amadeo Caviedes ensured the Amateurs opened up the new season with a win.

Having won all four of their pre season games the Amateurs were in confident mood ahead of the season opener. Manager Danlufc13 was wary of the threat that the newly promoted AFC Stanley would pose and they put in an excellent performance which in fairness should have probably seen them take a share of the spoils.

Caviedes repaid a large chunk of his transfer fee with a stunning goal after good work from midfield maestro Murray Davis and his strike was enough to settle the game.

Danlufc13 told the waiting press, “I’m delighted to secure an opening day win against a side I think have every chance of challenging for honours. We also hope that with a bit of good fortune we can be in the shake up come the end of the season”.
