Kirkbride Resist Kings

Los Samgeles Kings, under new manager Stripy8, gave Kirkbride a thorough test before succumbing to a 1-0 defeat. Los Samgeles put the title chasers under pressure right from the start, forcing the better of the chances. As with any aspiring champions, however, Kirkbride soaked it up and made the most of their fortune. A miss-hit shot by Jack Ness finding its way past Mehta to give the leaders the advantage on the stroke of half-time. Los Samgeles remained competitive after the break and continued to more than match their more illustrious visitors. Try as they might, though, they couldn't find the equaliser and despite goalscoring hero Jack Ness being sent-off Kirkbride held on. Kings new boss, Stripy8, was in upbeat mood post-match, "...morale is high because they now know how well they can play as a team." In the opposite camp, Jazza1958 was remaining focussed on their goal, "Our next match is against Liverpool....and will be a very difficult opponent. Strollers won't go into the match thinking that a point is enough and will look to keep up our impressive form with a win."

Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of an in-form Manchester United side. The damage was done in a first-half display that blew Liverpool away. Talal Shamil and Nenad Ljaljic scoring headers as United opened Liverpool up with seven chances against the visitors' none. Buttons' Liverpool are made of stern stuff these days and they put in an improved second-half display but couldn't force their way back into the game. Another header, this time from Sture Kiltorp, made sure that United would remain in second and on course for promotion. The reports coming out of Liverpool were that "Buttons got all his tactics wrong and will have cost Liverpool a chance of promotion." Despite this they still remain just a point outside of the promotion places and with two games to go there is everything to play for.

In third spot are The Vikings after a tough battle with Pahang United ended 0-0. Eaglesrjh reported his nerves to the team's supporters before the game, "I've studied the opponents likely tactics about 10 times, swapped my tactics many times and am still not happy." As it turned out it was an even game against a Pahang side who can give anyone a game on their day. Eagles was in positive mood after the draw, "Well I guess at least promotion is in my own hands with two games to go. Two wins and we're up!!"

At the other end of the table Kensington Boys Club gave themselves a chance of escaping the drop with a 1-0 win at Real Madrid FC. In a game that saw good chances for both sides it was left to Dorian Rooney to score the decisive strike. He was later to go off injured but had already done the damage and they now sit just three points behind AJ Rovers with a match against them in the very last game of the season.

AJ remain in trouble after drawing 1-1 at home to Kroklund Kings. With chances at a premium in the game the finshing actually proved to be of a high standard. Trundell Conway heading home to give the visitors the lead after only nine minutes. AJ secured a vital point when Sonny Vickerman hit a delightful free-kick past Isachsen. The draw sees Kroklund all but relegated but they will be confident of an improved second season while AJ will be hoping to secure their safety before that match-up with Kensington.
