RM Invitational news caught up with Darren Calvert at the very last day of the season to speak to him about a player that is becoming something of a legend at Cedar Road.
Dear Mr Calvert
It is now only a few days until Enok "Greatness" Vahlström officially leaves Cedar Road. I am aware that at the moment you are quite busy preparing for the all-decisive match against AFC Stanley and thank you for your time.
Q: “I understand it must be hard for you as your second best goalscorer of all time goes on to less green pastures. Explain the feeling right now and any thoughts on who will be able to replace him, goal-wise?”
A “It is a shame about Enok, been fantastic for us, which is a big miss for us against AFC Stanley. Benfari is our all time top goal scorer and after two impressive seasons, they'll have to keep an eye on him. 17 year old Recoba showed against Leeds with his free-kick, that he's the new kid on the block.”
Q: You signed Enok to FC Greatness on the 15th of January he and made his debut against Newry City on the very next day, sealing the win with two fantastic dead-ball situations and one can tell he already has a really big red heart for the club, did you early on realise what it was that you had signed to the club and what Greatness would be achieved through his golden boots this season?
A: “Of course him and Benafri would have gone toe to toe and make a great partnership.”
RM Invitiational news also managed to bump into Enok while recovering from his injury and got a few minutes with Mr Greatness himself
Q: Now, Enok Vahlström, How can you explain your excellent form this season? 14 goals in 14 matches?
A: All down to the great manager giving me this chance, its easy to score with such good players.
Q: The last match in your career against Newry City will, sadly, be remembered not only for your stunning shot in the 24th minute, but also the horrible injury that occurred only 20 minutes later. Can you tell us about the injury? Was that a reason for retiring at this moment in your career?
A: I would have retired last year, but early talks with the Manager Darren Calvert, saw great potential in me and how the club will have success.
Q: Any final words you would like to share for your adoring fans?
A: "You Really Are The Greatest Fans In The World!"We wish both Mr Calvert and Mr Vahlström great luck in the future.
