Stanley, Greatness to Dine at Top Table

AFC Stanley continued their brilliant season by winning promotion to the RM Invitational following a 1-0 win at Tropical Thunder. Fighting relegation, Thunder had everything to play for but couldn't match Stanley's quality. Despite creating seven chances Stanley only managed one goal although it ultimately proved decisive. Garry Molseley scoring his eleventh goal for the club with a lovely long range effort. Stanley did suffer an injury to Hans Hessbo but nothing could dampen Markham's mood, "We will have a few drinks tonight." exclaimed the coach before adding with a serious tone, "it's then back down to business....our fans deserve a piece of silverware for the support they have given us." Tropical Thunder remain in with a shout of avoiding relegation, to do so they must beat FC Joga Bonito and Juventus in their remaining fixtures.

F.C. Greatness joined Stanley in winning promotion with a 1-0 victory of their own at Newry City. Once again Enok Vahlstrom proved the vital factor as he finished well in the penalty area after 24 minutes for the crucial goal. Newry, entertaining promotion hopes of their own, couldn't dent an impressive Greatness backline and will need a slip-up elsewhere to realise their dream of promotion straight back to the RM Invitational. The sting in the tail for Greatness was the news that Vahlstrom will miss the remainder of the season due to a nasty looking injury. The hitman has made a stunning impact at Greatness, though, and is likely never to be forgotten. "Vahlstrom did it again, but sadly I have to announce his injury will stop him taking any part in the rest of the season....14 goals in 14 games is simply amazing." beemed Calvert.

Occupying the third promotion spot are Santos FC, who themselves ground out a 1-0 win over FC Joga Bonito. Joga more than matched their hosts and with a touch more fortune could have got at least a point out of the encounter. As it turned out a breakaway goal from Richardo Ferrari after 18 minutes was the game's only goal meaning Santos need just a point to win their second successive promotion. Manager of FCJB, Jimmy190, was disappointed post-match, "More chances again, and a loss again." However once the season is dusted and he looks back on his impact at the club he will be proud of his efforts and look forward to the new season with renewed optimism.

Goals Aloud continued their improvement under Ocs18 with a deserved 3-1 win over Three Lions FC. Two goals in a brilliant opening half saw Goals Aloud take control of the encounter. Trevor Fazackerley shot home after 14 minutes before finishing off fine work from Dan Ruffer just before the break. Three Lions, to their credit, came back strongly in the second-half and when Cristiano Izuldo netted a comeback looked likely. It wasn't to be, however, as Constantino de Melo scored from distance to complete the win.

Juventus boosted their survival hopes and ensured Leeds United would remain winless after a 3-1 win at Delle Alpi. Mairthin Foley scored early to ease any anxieties the home side may have been feeling. The game was settled in a three minute period during the second-half when Orlan Canito shot home and Adalberto Di Cintio finished off a free-kick to put the hosts 3-0 up. Leeds managed a consolation with their only chance in the 93rd minute through Sixten Berglund but a lot of hard work awaits them if they are to turn into a competitive football club.
