Villarreal CF 0 - 0 The Vikings

Viking Land News

Away point in bore draw.

This game was built up so much that it was almost certain to be a disappointment and this was the case.

Villarreal had the first chance a 12th minute Boulding freekick was well saved by Raasch. The Vikings then suufered an injury set back as Crouch suffered a serious injury in the 32nd minute. Villarreal then had a set piece move on 38 minutes but Benningtons header was too close to Raasch. 0-0 half time.

The second half was a reversal of the first with the Vikings getting all the chances and Villarreal getting the injury. First Boulding was injured in the 57th minute before the Vikings got their first chance in 62 minutes but Papakostas saw his shot saved. Almandis then saw a 66th minute freekick go well over the bar. Tassiopoulos then saw a 84th minute effort go wide as neither team could break the deadlock. 0-0 full time.

Eaglesrjh said this after the game. "I guess we should be happy enough with a point here but it was a dull game. I hope for a better performance and result in the next game and we will need to string a few results together to sneak promotion." "We also have a problem for the next game with a lack of fully fit midfielders and this may hinder team selection for the next game."
