Totaalvoetbal News

It has been another troubled week at Totaalvoetbal as the club lurches from one crisis to another this season.

A 2-1 home defeat at the hands of AFC Stanley was overshadowed by a serious injury to Pierre van Diemen which will keep the player out until the middle of this month.

Meeblind spoke of his admiration for Markham and his despair for Pierre:

“Markham set his side up expertly as he always does. It was a tight game and their more experienced heads in front of goal got them the win. I wish them the best for the remainder of the season,” offered the coach.

“The injury to Pierre is awful news. It is to be hoped we can limit the damage to his overall development. He is undoubtedly the jewel of our crown.”

Speaking ahead of a tough match with Izuka’s Three Lions side Meeblind has also been hit by retirements:

“I think Izu is one of the RMI’s star managers. I remember tapping him up for the league and he’s not disappointed, leading his team from the bottom tier to title challengers for the big crown. It’ll be a tough match.

“Obviously, the world knows that Metelo and Barrere are retiring but now is not the time to talk about them. We’ll address their contribution to our club at a later date.”
