Vikings make life difficult for themselves.
The Vikings made life more difficult for themselves losing 3-1 at home to Kirkbride Strollers.
Kirkbride got the games first chance with Blacklock seeing an acrobatic bicycle kick go just wide. It was to be a quiet early affair with a booking each before Robinson opened the scoring for Kirkbride with a well taken volley form a 32nd minute Lapinho corner. Things were tied up at the break though as in the 42nd minute Maladenis sent through a lovely through ball and Lind cleverly chipped the ball over the advancing keeper. 1-1 half time.
Kirkbride again started the better in the second half with Blacklock unfortunate to mis hit his shot and see it come back off a post. Almandis was then off target with a 49th minute freekick for the Vikings as the second half promised more chances than the first. Almandis then again failed to hit the target with a 51st minute freekick. The vikings were made to pay for these missed efforts as Maneater rose well at the back post to head home a Lapinho cross on 59. Blacklock then made the points safe for Kirkbride with a header from a Curran corner in the 76th minute. Almandis then missed with another freekick opportunity in the 79th minute and this was to be the end of the goalmouth action. 1-3 fulltime
Manager Eaglesrjh was rueful after the game. "We didn't defend well enough and unfortunatly Almandis had an off day with deadball situations. We seem to like making life difficult for ourselves and will now have to play hard to gain promotion this year."
