Bonkers Wander to Win

Bonkers took the honours in their battle with The Lone Wanderers as they emerged 2-0 winners. Stefan Beelenkamp hit a free-kick at Akanni Ibehre on 10 minutes while Benedict Janney headed over at the other end but the game would have a quiet first-half. Bonkers emerged to take the lead at the start of the second-half, though, as Beelenkamp powered in a long range shot and he might have added another moments later but he hit his free-kick wide. The Wanderers responded with a free-kick of their own but Stephen Julius couldn’t hit the target with his effort before Beelenkamp hit a further effort shot wide for the hosts. Beelenkamp would add the second goal of the game on 75 minutes, though, as he made the visitors pay for giving away so many set-pieces. Ibehre was forced into action on 81 minutes to deny another Beelenkamp free-kick before the visitors tried to pull a goal back through Frans Fleischer but his volley went over. The game finished in familiar fashion with Beelenkamp hitting a free-kick off target but it proved irrelevant as the hosts emerged as 2-0 victors. GarethLloyd was ‘not impressed’ with the finishing and he is hoping for better during their next game despite his side still enjoying a two-point lead at the top. HH admitted his side are ‘smarting from the defeat’ but vowed that his side will ‘pick up (their) promotion challenge.’

White Hawk continue to challenge Bonkers for the title as they defeated Futsal 2-1 at home. Byron Somaroe forced Kris Heckinbottom into an early save as he managed to toe-poke an effort on goal. Futsal would respond with chances of their own but Dankoi saved from Rowley Forrester and Rick Tuttle’s strike unfortunately hit the bar. Ryan Dharmsingh would head over before the break as the score remained 0-0. Somaroe would open the scoring with the first chance of the second-half as he headed in well from a Donahue cross. Dharmsingh would hit the bar with an audacious chip before Donahue added the second from the penalty spot on 81 minutes. Futsal would pull a goal back through a Robin Barratt looping header but it proved too little too late as the hosts held on for the victory. Hooraymee will be confident of promotion from this position but will urge his side on as they look to track down Bonkers. Jake will be fearing the worst for his side but there was enough in the performance to suggest there are better times ahead.

These Charming Men remained in the promotion spots despite being beaten at home by Bill Murray FC. Rob Lee nearly gave Murray an early lead but his powerful shot hit a post. TCM’s first chance would come from a free-kick but Jorge Carril couldn’t direct his effort on target. Murray saw a late effort by Shmuel Peha fail to test Derksen as the sides went in level. Luke Butler would hit the bar with a lob header for the visitors before Hiller had to save from Jon Turnball at the other end. TCM would then see Turnball denied again as his curled shot was palmed round the post. They would pay for this as Matthew Upson curled home a free-kick on 59 minutes. TCM responded but Chano Delgado’s header was saved before his lob was also saved by Hiller. Upson would then double the visitors’ advantage as he headed in well. TCM’s frustrations continued as Jon Hardy’s bicycle effort hit wood and they might have fallen further behind but Peha put his shot over. The home side would have a late free-kick effort but Carril saw his shot turned over and they ended up on the wrong end of a 2-0 score. RDCM admitted Hiller had ‘played a blinder’ in goal and said the promotion race was still ‘very difficult to call.’ Bill Murray continue to move into contention with BM News describing it as ‘a solid victory.’

Real Madrid moved to within four points of the top three as they beat Norfolk N Chance 5-1 at Hoppitop Ground. Byron Greening forced Nigosian into an early save as the home side started in positive fashion. It would be Madrid who would strike first, though, as Samvel Mortanian powered in a long range shot. Aren Garabedian then forced Olausson into a smart stop from a header before looping another header in for 2-0. The second-half saw Kapo Kachadorian waste a chance before Garabedian also hit another effort wide. Norfolk would stun their visitors by pulling a goal back from the spot as Taja Juanjo netted. Madrid would prove stronger in the closing stages, however, as Garabedian headed home before Vahe Kasparian made it 4-1 from distance. Stu Mackay saw a header saved before Garabedian had a shot saved. Garabedian would get his hat-trick, though, as he shot home in the penalty area on 91 minutes to complete a 5-1 victory. FredRizzo might be planning a late promotion tilt and they will build massive momentum if they can take out Bonkers on Friday. Howemiester’s side netted only their second goal of the campaign in their latest defeat but they will be pleased to see the end of the season on the horizon.

Los Samgeles Kings gave their promotion hopes a massive boost by defeating Cressex 4-1 at Staples Center. Anze Kopitar had a driving shot saved on two minutes before Douglas Wallberg stunned the hosts by giving Cressex an eighth minute lead from inside the area. The Kings would see Kopitar waste another chance as he headed wide before Derek Armstrong brought them level with a more clinical header. Armstrong would then power in a shot from distance to put the Kings in front and he would swiftly add his hat-trick goal; once more being given too much room from distance he left Ikhala with no chance. Lauro Poggi would miss a late header for Cressex as they went in 3-1 down and in deep trouble. They would have the first chance of the second-half but Ghita Ahmataj’s header was tipped over by Ersberg. Armstrong would then add his fourth goal with a fine header from a Brown cross to put the hosts 4-1 up. The Kings would see Dustin Brown have a half-volley saved before Torben Kummel’s free-kick missed but they still wound up comfortable winners. Stripy’s side have now moved six points clear of Cressex and the manager will be planning for life in Division Two next term. Villan_RAS knows that his side will have to beat Kroklund to have any chance of survival going into the final couple of weeks.

That might prove a difficult ask, though, as Kroklund warmed up with an excellent 2-0 home win over Juventus. Aatu Vuokki headed wide for the hosts while Orlan Canito hit the bar at the other end as the game started quickly. The chances would then be traded for bookings as the home side got stuck into their visitors. However, late in the half Bosse Bong had a free-kick turned round by Fuentes before Trudell Conway gave the hosts the lead with a fine strike in the area. Kroklund would continue this fine play at the start of the second-half with Curt Elliott heading wide before Vuokki’s back-heel was easily gathered by the ‘keeper. Elliott would then hit the post with a header before Bong would strike the angle with a fabulous free-kick. Juventus had a free-kick of their own but Mairthin Foley’s effort was easily caught by Kangashaka. The home side would then seal the win as a toe-poke from Tapani Visavuori flew into the goal from short range in injury-time. A win for bossebong’s side on Friday will surely signal safety and further chance for the manager to build his squad for the future. SuperJuve’s side sit on the same amount of points as Kroklund and they too will be hopeful that they will be plying their trade at this level next season.
