Trophy Time for Blakey

Carthage duly wrapped up the title on the final day with an easy 3-0 victory at Spartans. Carthage took a while to get going but Svante Jillhed lobbed in on the half-hour only to have it disallowed for offside. They would find the opener on 43 minutes, however, as Guido Eliseo also looped the ball over Neuer. This lead would be doubled before the break as Jillhed finally got his goal; a clinical shot from inside the penalty area. The second-half saw more chances come the way of the visitors with Eliseo having a chip saved by Neuer. Ad Herbal would add the third on 62 minutes with a powerful header while Eliseo had another chip go over. Eric Fray followed suit in lobbing over before then driving a super effort into the crossbar. Ultimately the missed chances wouldn’t cost the visitors who began celebrating a superb season as the final whistle blew. Blakey was already looking ahead and after predicting the title earlier this season he is now ‘confident that his side can jump into the 1st division at the first time of asking.’ Meanwhile, Spartans ushered in a new era as Jimmy took over and rebranded them Futbol Criollo before adding that ‘promotion to Division Two is on the agenda.’

Arsenal finished their season on a downer as they were beaten 2-1 at Morley but still finished in second place and with promotion in the bag. In truth they would pay for missed chances with Eduardo da Silva having an early shot saved by Zubeldia before Val Sheridan nearly helped them out with an errant back-pass. William Gallas would then head high over the bar and they would pay as Florian Arnautu flicked a header in to give Morley a 1-0 lead. Sid Peyton responded with a header of his own but it brushed the post and they would go in a goal behind. The second-half evened out in terms of chances with Morley unfortunate not to double their lead as Gwilym Cullip headed against the angle. They would find their second goal on 76 minutes, though, as Josh Phelps powered in a header. Arsenal tried to respond late in the game but Abou Diaby struck an effort high over and although Theo Walcott lobbed home they couldn’t find another chance that might have brought them parity. DomBrown quickly shrugged off the defeat to celebrate his manager of the season crown with a ‘get in’ cry in Arsenal News. Leeg21’s Morley side finished with four straight wins and can now look ahead to next season with renewed optimism that a promotion campaign is on the cards.

Wiltshire Warriors completed their promotion season with a 1-1 home draw against Glory Hornets. The Hornets enjoyed the first chance but Lionel Monk’s lob was saved by Hogg before Graham Potts put a similar effort over at the other end. A free-kick just after the half-hour saw Toma Popadic go within inches of giving the visitors the lead. The Warriors would respond, though, with Dante de Matteo striking wood with an excellent curled effort before Bob Lake lobbed a header against the bar on 39 minutes. Monk would then head wide at the other end before Paolo Ballotta gave the visitors a half-time lead with a calm finish when through on goal. The second-half saw a quick response by the Warriors as Farshid Jalali powered in a low shot from distance. The only other chance of the half fell to the visitors but Popadic’s diving header went high above the goal and the points were shared. Big K shocked the clubs' fans shortly afterwards by taking on the New York City job so only time will tell what the future holds for the promoted Warriors. Meanwhile, the Hornets’ fans are excited about what GregPerkins can do with a full season in charge.

Dream Team and wortley were involved in an end-of-season classic as the home side edged home 6-4. Wortley started the more positive of the two but Jake Shiver’s header was saved by Delirious before Nigel Krippner volleyed wide. Dream Team’s first chance came on 18 minutes with Dudley Dream hitting a free-kick off-target. This was closely followed by a Brandon Hiller header going wide for wortley. The first goal duly arrived on 23 minutes as Mil Moody powered in a header to leave Gareth well-beaten. The home side were now in confident mood and Warren Wish steered in number two a minute later. Moody followed by hitting a lob just over before a diving header by Luke Light lit up the stadium for 3-0. Rai Kike offered wortley some hope by drilling home inside the area for 3-1 before heading in accurately on 42 minutes to leave them only a goal behind at the interval. Dream Team started quickly after the break but Light’s shot was saved by Gareth. Moody would make it 4-2, though, with a hard shot inside the area but a lob header by Hiller quickly reduced the deficit to one again. The home side would be next to score as Dream netted from the spot to make it 5-3 on 62 minutes and this quickly became 6-3 as Adam Aspire rounded Gareth to slot home. Wortley kept pressing to their credit with Alfred Naples chipping in to make it 6-4 on 66 minutes. However, somewhat unbelievably, after what had gone before it this turned out to be the last chance of the game and Dream Team went home in party mood after a 6-4 triumph. MrJames admitted he ‘wasn’t exactly expecting 6-4’ but the result was ‘as planned’ as he now looks ahead to next season. Thegreatlordbags’ side have come up five points short this term and the whole club looks well-set to go even better next season.

Alsancak’s young side finished on a high as they defeated Tir Eoghain 3-1 at Mosquito Alley. Rory Burston headed over before Broderick Shilton was denied by Cirkovic at the other end as the game started brightly. Lee Cattermole would put the hosts ahead on 19 minutes with a powerful low shot while a free-kick by Andrew Taylor smashed into the crossbar shortly afterwards. Burston was denied by Raberg after an excellent header before he did get his goal with a fine lob from range. Fabrice Muamba forced Raberg into another save before Eoghain looked to hit back with Shilton having three efforts which cleared the bar. Jim Hotte would also have a header saved by Cirkovic before the home side re-established themselves with Frazier Campbell going within millimetres of making it 3-0. The visitors would be hit by an injury to Ivo Deus which meant they would play the second-half with 10-men after choosing not to name any substitutes. Alsancak were quickly on the attack with Campbell hitting the post with a powerful effort before Burston’s header was saved by Raberg. Taylor would add a third with an excellent chip before Muamba’s header hit a post as they looked for more goals. Muamba would hit a tame effort at the ‘keeper before Eoghain defiantly hit back through a Kyle Lang lob on 90 minutes. The hosts would have the final chance but Burston’s header went wide although it couldn’t hide a satisfactory afternoon for Wienersnitzel’s team. They will now look to progress next season after picking up 17 points with a very inexperienced side this term. Tyroneabu has had a successful start to life as a manager in the RM leagues and will be looking forward to his first full season next term.

EspAda picked up their first win with a 2-0 away victory over rudderless The Champs. A Gregor Muller effort was beaten away by Irving as the first-half passed relatively quietly. The visitors would be improved after the break, however, and created numerous opportunities. Allan Bound opened the scoring on 47 minutes with a powerful strike in the area before a free-kick by Norman Cederhag went just wide. Cederhag would try his luck again moments later but this time it went over and Bound hit a curled shot wide as the chances kept coming. Bound would then put a powerful shot over before Herbert Stigsson made it 2-0 with a thumping long range shot. Lone_totti was pleased with his first victory and challenged his players to give ‘100% to me during every match next season.’ Good times may just be around the corner for EspAda. The same cannot be said of The Champs who remain in the wilderness following Wylie’s disappearance earlier in the season. It remains to be seen whether anyone will come and rescue this once proud football club although the word for management is that the club will fold.
