Real Madrid defeated Bill Murray FC 1-0 to secure the final promotion spot in Division Two. Madrid were the dominant force and had an Aren Garabedian header go close on 10 minutes. Samvel Mortanian then had a shot saved by Hiller and the ‘keeper was in action once more to save from Kevin Gabriele’s flick header. The second-half was a tighter affair with Murray having the first chance; Denilson Pereira Neves having a header stopped by Nersesian. Madrid would regain control and Mortanian powered in the crucial goal on 82 minutes. Kapo Kachadorian headed tamely at Hiller late on but it wasn’t to matter as Madrid had done enough to secure promotion. Promotion caps an incredible eight match winning streak which FredRizzo has masterminded. With such an impressive manager at the helm Madrid will be hoping for even better things in Division One next term. CM brushed off the disappointment of losing out to offer congratulations to the promoted teams before adding that they’ll ‘come back next season stronger and hungrier.’
Bonkers won the clash of the top two in a 3-1 away success at White Hawk FC. Bonkers started brightly with Chris Sutton hitting a post with a fine header. Joel Weymouth wasn’t as accurate as his shot went wide before Elton Hills also lobbed over. Hawk had their first chance at the start of the second-half with Matts Perman showing a clinical instinct to head home the opener. He narrowly failed in making it 2-0 as his placed shot wasn’t quite accurate enough and Bonkers hit back. Weymouth powered in the equaliser with a fearsome strike while Edip Bayrak thought he had turned the game on its head but had his shot disallowed for offside. Bayrak would put Bonkers ahead, though, as he headed in style before Elton Hills put them 3-1 up with a shot after a corner. Sutton hit the angle of post and bar with a fine lob while Weymouth smashed an effort against the bar with a well-placed header. Bayrak would waste a further chance late on but Bonkers had already done enough to warrant a comfortable victory. GarethLloyd declared that they ‘played (their) best game of the season’ in victory and declared they ‘should have a good chance next season’ despite the higher division. Hooraymee will also be plotting a successful first campaign in Division One following a superb campaign which has seen them deservedly crowned champions.
Futsal escaped relegation with an excellent 4-0 home win over Norfolk which capped a super end-of-season run. Rick Tuttle looped in a header for the opening goal on eight minutes to settle any Futsal nerves. Robin Barratt would then power in a header of his own to ensure a 2-0 advantage as the sides went into the break. Mirciulica Bardes was unfortunate after the break as his header struck wood but Barratt would volley home on 56 minutes to make it 3-0. Freddy Kennedy added another header on 58 minutes to make it 4-0 and put any lingering doubts about safety to bed. Norfolk did rally towards the end of the game with a half-volley by Dan Ruffer narrowly missing the target before Evgeny Kuryanov demanded an excellent save from Heckingbottom after a fine strike. Wild scenes of celebration followed the final whistle with Jake saying he ‘hopes to sign some players to finish in the promotion places next season.’ Howemiester will now see how his side shapes up after the change report before finalising plans for Division Three football next season.
The Lone Wanderers finished their fine season with a 2-1 home victory over a Juventus side who ended up relegated. Juventus had the first effort on goal but Jacobo Chacros put his free-kick too close to Peyton who made the save. The response by the home side was a side-footed shot by Frans Fleischer but he couldn’t match the accuracy with enough power to open the scoring. Chacros attempted another free-kick for Juve but it flew wide of the target while William MacAvish’s attempt at the other end couldn’t find the net either. The opening goal of the game did arrive on 42 minutes as Evandro Lemos converted a penalty for the home side. They doubled their lead quickly after the resumption as Fleischer powered in a header after a corner to give them a stranglehold on proceedings. Juve responded well for the rest of the game and pressed to get back into the contest. A penalty by Obadele Eliakwu halved the deficit but when the chance came to rescue a point Chacros hit his free-kick tamely and off-target and they slipped to a 2-1 defeat. Following the victory Wanderers News was reporting ‘rumours’ linking their manager with New York City but with that job now being taken the fans can look forward to another impressive season next time out. SuperJuve must now rebuild his club in Division Three following a disappointing run but the manager has shown his talent before and will no doubt do so again.
The battle of the Kings produced a rare old game as Los Samgeles edged out Kroklund 3-2 at Staples Center. Los Samgeles opened the scoring on nine minutes as Ladislav Nagy connected powerfully from distance to beat Kangashaka. This lead was swiftly doubled as Dustin Brown converted a 13th minute penalty to leave Kroklund reeling. Kroklund did respond with a header by Dead Three but it went just over before the home side had an Alexander Frolov header miss the target. Three would bring Kroklund back into it before the break as he steered in a shot on 41 minutes. The second-half saw more goal action with Kroklund’s Aatu Vuokki having a side-footed shot saved by Cloutier. Los Samgeles had chances of their own and Nagy only missed with another powerful shot on 58 minutes before lobbing over moments later. A free-kick by Nagy then stirred Kangashaka into a fine save before Michal Handzus placed a header into the far corner to make it 3-1. Bosse Bong’s free-kick was saved as Kroklund looked to bring themselves back into it and they did pull a goal back courtesy of a precise header by Tero Perotie. This wasn’t enough to spark a fight-back, though, and Los Samgeles ran out 3-2 winners. Stripy’s side have been value for money this term with a massive 97 goals going in during their games and if he can tighten his side up defensively they’ll take some stopping next term. Kroklund will look for progression next term after living up to bossebong’s survival hopes this season.
These Charming Men ran out 2-0 winners at Cressex on the final day as they closed the curtain on a fine season. Cressex did start well with Emil Rojas hitting a free-kick which needed saving by Avellino. However, they were soon behind as Jordi Rodri netted from the spot on 16 minutes. A breakaway saw Loran Rajabi chip against the bar on 23 minutes while Tord Jakobson’s free-kick was saved by Stoker late in the half. The second-half began with the visitors on top and a side-footed effort by Rajabi was unfortunate to rebound off wood. Stuart Cooksey would have a header stopped by Stoker before Cressex wasted a chance as Rojas headed wildly off-target. Gerard Caffrey would extend the visitors lead on 62 minutes with a powerfully curled effort and Rodri might have added a further goal but Stoker was well-placed to make the save. Rajabi missed the target with a curled shot of his own while Pietro Grimaldi missed by inches at the other end. Ultimately it was TCM who would finish the season on a high and with RDCM at the held few would argue that they’ll be up there fighting for promotion again next season. Villan_RAS will look to get his side moving in the right direction in Division Three next season after one of disappointment this time round.
