White Hawk FC put together an excellent performance to see off fellow promotion challengers The Lone Wanderers 3-0 at The Capital Wasteland. Hawk would strike early as a fabulous volley by Adan Donahue left Ibehre helpless and the visitors in celebratory mood. Ruud Sparendam would then head wide before a Charly Chan Jet Soe header was easily gathered by the ‘keeper. The Wanderers put their first attack together on 21 minutes but Mart Rosbottom’s strike from distance missed the goal. Hawk were quickly back on the front foot with a free-kick by Donahue going wide. The second-half saw a breakaway end with Rosbottom forcing a save from Dankoi before Hawk responded with a Donahue free-kick which went over. Matts Perman would follow suit by shooting over before he added the second with an excellent header on 73 minutes. Jet Soe had an effort saved by Ibehre before the third goal was added with a vicious low shot by Clyde Nageswar having too much on it for the ‘keeper. Nageswar would then waste a headed chance but it proved of little consequence as Hawk emerged 3-0 victors. Hooraymee’s side remain two behind Bonkers at the top of the table but have opened up a significant six point gap on the Wanderers in fourth as they look to secure promotion. HH described his side’s performance as ‘utterly disgraceful’ but added that Bonkers won’t ‘have the bottle to beat us’ following the ‘rollicking’ his team will have received in training.
Bonkers maintained their lead at the top with a confident 7-0 home win over Norfolk N Chance. Bonkers flew out of the traps and were a goal ahead after a minute with Philip Calderwood steering the ball home from inside the area. A minute later and a Calderwood volley was saved before Joel Weymouth headed in number two on three minutes. It would be 3-0 on six minutes as Weymouth looped a header home with Norfolk visibly stunned. Dante Allegri made matters worse for his own team as he put a back-pass beyond Olausson in goal to make it 4-0 on eight minutes. Norfolk would have a chance courtesy of Evgeny Kuryanov but Hawke saved at his feet and a diving header by Bruce Deary at the other end needed tipping over as half-time arrived. The fifth goal eventually arrived with Mortimer Wainman lobbing in a header on 65 minutes and it would be 6-0 via a toe-poke by Garry Maynard. Wainman quickly added his second and his team’s seventh as he placed home a clinical strike following a breakaway. This proved the last of the scoring as Bonkers kept their lead at the top of the table. With a big game against The Wanderers next Bonkers News predicted that ‘no-one expects them to last very long at Crazy Town.’ Howemiester keeps moving on after each difficult match-day and he will be looking forward to the end of a long season.
These Charming Men moved into the promotion spots with a 2-1 win at Kroklund Kings. An early volley by Linus Streicher served notice of TCM’s intentions but it went over. Kroklund responded with a chance of their own but a header by Tapani Visavuouri was saved by Derksen. The game continued to ebb and flow with a header by Loran Rajabi saved by Kangashaka before Kroklund won a penalty at the other end. It was duly despatched by Sjunne Wenna and the hosts had a 1-0 lead. They might have added to this lead but a lob by Aatu Vuokki went over and TCM struck back. A well-placed header by Streicher found its way into the corner of the net and the score was 1-1. Rajabi toe-poked a late effort wide as the half-time whistled signalled the end of the half. The second-half saw an early effort by Visavuouri saved by Derksen as the game remained balanced. It would stay this way until late when the visitors took a hold on proceedings. Jordi Rodri volleyed home from a corner to give TCM a precious lead. Streicher had a late chance to extend the lead but his header hit the bar although it wouldn’t stop TCM running out 2-1 victors. RDCM was happy with the points which ‘puts a positive spin’ on their promotion hopes and their ‘training regime’ is paying dividends. Bossebong’s side stay just three points above Cressex and they will want to make the most of a home match against Juventus as they look to stay out of trouble.
Cressex remain in trouble following a 4-3 home defeat to Real Madrid. Madrid would take an early lead thanks to a smart toe-poke from Samvel Mortanian. However, Cressex struck back and were unfortunate to see a Pietro Grimaldi shot hit the bar. Roque Guiterrez would then put a header over the bar for the hosts and things got worse as Mortaninan shot home his second following a corner on 23 minutes. Cressex battled gamely on but a free-kick by Lauro Poggi was easily gathered by Nigosian and Kevin Gabriele might have made it 3-0 with a powerful low shot which went just wide. Cressex would start the second-half strongly although Poggi fired another free-kick chance wide. Gabriele miscued when well-placed at the other end before a fine header by Tryggvi Valsson halved the deficit. With momentum behind them the home side then drew level with Guiterrez curling home a long range shot just after the hour. Nine minutes later and they were in front with Tomas Tiribocchi heading home well from a corner. Despite this setback Madrid would fight back. Aren Garabedian powered in a 75th minute header to level the game and they then went in search of the winner. It would come in injury-time as Stu Mackay looped a header over Stoker to the delight of the visiting fans. The defeat will have been heart-breaking for Cressex fans and Villan_RAS will not need telling how important their match against Los Samgeles Kings is on Tuesday. Madrid are comfortable in mid-table with FredRizzo wanting his side to build some momentum going into next term.
Los Samgeles Kings picked up three massive points with a 4-3 victory at Juventus. A 10th minute free-kick by Mairthin Foley would give Juve the lead in what proved to be a breathless match. Foley would nearly strike again on 22 minutes but his free-kick struck the bar and LSK would find their rhythm. A chip by Derek Armstrong had them level just past the half-hour and the same player might have put them ahead but headed wide. Juve responded with a Jorn Fruh chip which lacked accuracy but it would be the Kings who would go in front courtesy of a well-placed header by Michal Handzus. Armstrong would double this lead with an immaculate header just before the break and the Kings would go into half-time full of confidence. Juve responded in the early stages of the second-half with Alberto Morante slotting home a penalty. Torben Kummel then hit a free-kick straight at Fuentes for the visitors and the game settled for a period before a dramatic ending. Juve would draw level thanks to a powerful header by Fruh but it would be the Kings who would have the last say. A looping header by Evgeni Malkin found its way into the net to give them a win which would take them three points clear of the drop zone. Stripy knows that a win against Cressex will now go a long way to making his side safe after a tricky campaign. SuperJuve will be keen to keep his side out of trouble before sorting out a leaky defence in the silly-season.
Bill Murray and Futsal fought out a 1-1 draw in the division’s other game. The home side would start quickly but a free-kick by Matthew Upson smashed against the post. They would take the lead on five minutes, though, as Winston Badger powered in a header. Futsal responded to this disappointment with Rowley Forrester hitting a free-kick wide. The home side would see Paul Scholes have a header saved as they ended the half with their lead intact. Futsal opened the second-half with a Forrester free-kick which struck a post before Ryan Prisk flicked a header at Hiller. For their part the hosts would see a toe-poke by Shmuel Peha hit a post. Futsal would draw level thanks to a superb Rick Tuttle header on 72 minutes. The home side would go in search of a winning goal but a Scholes header was tipped over by Heckingbottom while Tony Adams curled a shot wide. Peha had a late volley go well-wide before Denilson Perreira Neves headed over as the hosts had to settle for a point. While keeping an eye on the promotion race CM will still be moulding his side for next season while Jake will hopefully build on this point as his side look to pull of the great escape.
