Totaalvoetbal put in one of their best displays for some time to defeat F.C. Greatness 3-0 at the MVB Arena.
The home side started cautiously before Pierre van Diemen fired in the first warning with a diving header.
Greatness were enduring misfortune as Fabian Ostgard was injured on 22 minutes but Rachao kept them level with a good stop from a Shivan Preetnav shot.
Mario Balotelli did engineer himself enough room to head wide for the visitors but they found themselves behind the eight ball moments later. Edwin Hayter would be the source of the goal as he sent in a dangerous cross for Shirsh Vajpayee to precisely head home. Vajpayee would see his evening end there, though, following a crude challenge from Filippinetti.
Faust Baronchelli missed an early chance for the visitors at the start of the second-half before substitute Allan Akerboom ballooned the ball over the bar at the other end. Baronchelli would have another chance as the half progressed but Rimmer was the equal to it.
Despite Greatness’ new-found attacking threat it would be Totaal who would score again. Once more some fine work from Hayter provided the opening as a through ball found van Diemen in enough space to chip over Rachao to double the lead.
Paolo Serena couldn’t match the quality of van Diemen’s strike at the other end as he lobbed over before the Totaal forward struck again to double the lead. Allan Akerboom found van Diemen and he directed the ball past Rachao to seal the game.
Both sides had further chances but the respective ‘keepers denied van Diemen and Martinus Benfari as the match ended 3-0.
Boss Meeblind was a happy man post-match.
“It was a super win, no question,” he began.
“Darren will get a reaction from his team, of that I’m sure but we can move onto our next game with confidence despite the injury to Vajpayee.”
