Kees Splinter Rescues PSV

With the 2 youngest teams in div 1 going head to head, it promised to be tight affair and so it proved. St Omer took an early goal lead but were unable to hang on as 19yr old Kees Splinted bagged a brace to secure PSV their first win of the season. The press cuaght up with head coach K Giwa after the match.

"For us this was a big game St Omer are a team we are capable of beating and with home advantage it was imperative that we attacked. I feel we did well to come back from 1-0 and record a win. Congrats to Splinter as a lot of responsibility was on his shoulder tonight with Yang Sheng Nameng injured. Althought the main reason I felt we won was due to the versatality of Jose Fonte. There are a lot of players with this "all rounder" special quality but few are capable of doing the job. Jose gives us that. We've played him in CM before with great success and today because of him, we were able to switch formation and make our set up play unpredictable for our opponents. I do admire St Omer as they share a similar philosophy with us in developing youngsters. I wish them all the luck in the world. I look forward to playing them again as I believe by then both teams will have learnt a lot of lessons and it should a better game. Next up is Villareal, they'll be keen to get a win and see this as a golden opportunity but we'll do out best to prepare.
