Leading By "Eck"-xample

There was a buzz around Yellow Brick Road, as following their first victory of the season, they paraded new signing Alex "Big Eck" McQuillan.

The Hornets beat off a flurry of last-minute bids, landing defender McQuillan (31) for 3,494,775 econ, less than 85,000econ from their bid limit. With his arm around the new signing in an over-familiar way, beaming boss Greg Perkins sang the praises of the big Scot.

"Alex is a good centre-half in the traditional Scottish mould. However, when we investigated him closer and discovered he was a lion-hearted leader, we knew we had to have him in our squad. I was a defender myself in my younger years, and I firmly believe that all good teams should be built on a solid defence."

With two fringe players previously contesting the captain's armband, it is hoped that the more experienced and talented McQuillan will bring some stability and leadership to the Hornets as they slowly build towards a bid for Glory.
