Flare United manager Izuka yesterday told the press that F.C. Greatness were a worthy addition to the top flight. In a recent friendly at the Sunburst Arena, La Furia Roja narrowly defeated Greatness by a 2-1 margin. Defender Philipp Bitzer was on target for the hosts in the 2nd minute while veteran forward Iain Emery scored the winner in the 20th minute. Experienced midfielder Finlay MacCleir showed that he can still perform at the top level at his age as he provided the final ball for both goals.
However, the chemistry and understanding between the Greatness players showed as a blind pass from Mario Balotelli found Paolo Serena in space on the wing and the midfielder's return cross just seconds later landed right on the oncoming Balotelli's forehead in the 11th minute.
"F.C. Greatness have been around since season 1 and since that time, they've only had one manager. They've got about 6 players who've been around for ages and have played over 100 games, and a few players quickly closing in on that milestone. Their teamwork, their chemistry, it's got to be just amazing. They could be playing in the dark and they'd know exactly where everybody else would be. I think they may very well cause a few upsets this season," said Izuka to the press at the club's training ground yesterday.
