Santos were eliminated in the semi-final cup by a solid Splott Rovers team, ending their ambitions of a double triumph. Goals by Mr. Fantastic and Guntekin Can put Santos in a hole that they could not overcome, falling on away goals. Nonetheless, manager Sean7 remained upbeat about the upcoming season.
'Reed Fantastic really did us in today, a Fanastic Four like performance. He wasn't MOTM for nothing. Moving onwards, we're looking at raising average form. Our form has been a wreck after last season, and we'll be undergoing some intensive training to get back to top levels. The targets are on our back now, and we have to be ready.'
In transfer news, youth defender Paz Iturralde was sold for 1.2 mil econ. The manager's hopes to develop the player did not go as planned, and both sides felt there were better opportunities for the player elsewhere.
'Paz was always a hard worker on our team, good with practice and shined in the rare playing time he got. With George Ling coming in, we felt opportunities for playing time would not be enough to raise his skill level. It's only fair that he be given the chance to shine elsewhere. With his time here, we hope he's developed a winning mentality, and wish him the best of luck.'
