Totaalvoetbal reduced the deficit at the top of the table to just one point following two home matches over the past week.

Iz’s Flare United made the journey to Metelo Park on Tuesday and their ultra-defensive set-up worked perfectly to take away a point in a 0-0 draw. Try as they might, Totaal just could not find the necessary creativity to feed their forward line and the game ended in frustration.

This left them in the situation of going into the crunch clash with leaders Arsenal DB knowing they almost had to win to rekindle title dreams. The first-half seemed to go to plan for Dom’s side as Arsenal frustrated Totaal and also created the better chances. However, the score remained 0-0 and when Antonello Ballarin came good from a set-piece just after the break you could sense the relief in the Orange shirts. Zlatan Izuhimovic was rewarded for his fine display with a goal late in the game and talisman Pierre van Diemen also netted to complete a 3-0 win which sees the title race simmering nicely.
