Bore draw as United creep towards safety

Flare United were content to put all 11 men behind the ball yesterday as they played out a bore draw at Totaalvoetbal's Metelo Park. Izuka's game plan was clearly to get a defensive freekick which he would expect Ernie Ormondroyd to convert in a Paul Robinson-like manner. However, the biased referee did not give anything United's way even with men in red dropping like flies all over the pitch. Miquel Oriol finally went in with a crunching tackle on United's newest signing Philipp Bitzer in the 80th minute, but even then he only picked up a booking and the resulting freekick went Totaalvoetbal's way.

A sickening way for United to inch towards top flight survival but Izuka will be glad for the point all the same. On the plus side, the quality of the hot dogs being sold in the Metelo Park stands have drastically improved since the last time Izuka was there.
