Rovers roar into top slot

AJ Rovers started the season with a bang with a big 4-0 away victory at African Imitators. The Visitors bossed the game from the start and didn’t even allow the home side a shot on goal. They opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Bain curled home a great shot after being found by Savinykh. Rovers had to wait till the middle of the second half to extend their lead, Bronach sent over a corner and Kindgren was on hand to head home. The points where safe in the 74th minute when Bronach became the scorer leathering the ball home from range. Bronach then completed a very good day with a 4th team goal in the 82nd minute. AJ Rovers will be very pleased to get a good win as they push for performance but will likely face a sterner test next away at Gooners. Gravitons will be hoping his side can shake off this defeat and put in a better performance next game.

Bully Boys FC swept aside Yorkshires Amateurs to move into second place. The mercurial Wenna opened the scoring on 19 when he beat the defence to a cross ball from Hayter. Cathalio had obviously asked for more from his team at half time and got the response he asked for when straight from kick off Conway got the ball from Barratt and caught Yorkshires keeper Carpenter unaware with a long range effort. The victory was sealed in the 87th minute, amateurs where pushing up trying to get back in the game and where caught with a quick breakaway, Barratt again the provider this time for Hayter to slot home. Cathalio was pleased with a comfortable start and had words of comfort for the Amateurs manager who must be hoping to get his side going as they look to bounce straight back up.

Bristol City currently occupy the 3rd promotion spot after day 1 after a great home win against Division 1 regulars Kensington Boys Club. Bristol got off to the perfect start as recent signing Lipscombe found space in the first minute to put away a ball from Julius. The lead was extended in the 40th minute when Julius got a goal for himself with a lovely free kick. Kensington kept the game going but could not force a goal that might have changed the game and Bristol relaxed and guarded their lead well. New manager PBStev was pleased to get a win in his first competitive match and was quick to praise new signing Lipscombe and question the abilities of some other strikers in the league. Patrikpatrik will surely be hoping for more from his boys as he looks to finally escape division 1.

Gooners won arguably the game of the day away at West Brom Strollers. Gooners started well and converted the only chance of a tight first half with Rocastle finding the net from range. The only other incident of note in the first half was an injury to WBS keeper Valdezuka, his replacement was Scott Carson. Gooners may have thought they were on easy street when they went 2 up in the 50th minute. Rocastle again the scored this time with a header from a Bergkamp cross. WBS though are still a very good team and they gave themselves hope when Regis scored with a well placed shot in the 67th minute, WBs then pushed hard and got an equaliser in the 82nd as Brown broke quickly and laid the ball off to Statham to score. Heartbreak was to follow for WBS though as their hard work coming back was for nothing as Borja sent a 90th minute free kick past Carson to win the points for Gooners. Dinkydave was quiet after the match and the WBS fans will be hoping he can turn the clubs fortunes around, FMRealism on the other hand was delighted to “stun” the division but still spoke about expecting the hardest season for sometime.

F.C Greatness where also winners ion opening day but must have feared the worst when Cannavaro went off injured early in the first half. In fact it took into the second half for this game to get going, Benfari found space after a quick break by Colluato and slotted home to give Greatness a 50th minute lead. The same combination then sealed the points in the 82nd minute as Benfari struck home from inside the box, Carthage did cause a little scare as a set piece free kick resulted in a 88nd minute goal for Eribenne but this proved to be no more than a consolation as Greatness took the points. Darrencalvert was quick to praise striker Benafri after the game but did question if he could keep the form up for the entire season. Blakey0500 must find a way to pick his team up ahead of the visit of White Hawk FC

White Hawk also got off to a winning start as they beat newly promoted These Charming Men 2-1. TCM where maybe still suffering a cup final defeat headache and where 2 down by half time. Donahue shot home in the 16th minute after a corner and then made it 2 on the stroke of halftime with a well taken penalty. TCM did improve after the break but an 85th minute goal from Streicher will have done to ease RDCM’s opening day blues. RDCM spoke of trying to sell players to improve clubs funds as he looks to improve on squad form.
