PSV off to perfect start

PSV Eindhoven top the table after round 1 after an away win at St Omer. Both clubs are still very young so really anything could have happened but a little more experience in the Eindhoven camp proved decisive. Like many games this round the first point of interest was an injury. PSV midfielder MacFinlay having to be replaced in the 26th minute. The first half was goalless but it was in the second half that PSV took control. Simons picked up the ball in the box from Tollefsen and beat his man to give PSV a 56th minute lead. The points where then seemingly made safe in the 75th minute as Collauto fired home a perfect free kick. The cherry was put on the 2nd half performance in the 89th minute with Collauto again the scorer after being picked out in the box by Simons. PSV manager Kadri spoke about being tactically spot on but was concerned that he may not have got the balance of his squad right yet. St Omer manager ConyTottee simply called his sides performance “Rubbish” and it will be hard to pick his team up for a game against Juventus next round.

Alsancak F.C got a good early season win at home to Reggae Reggae Sauce to move into 2nd spot. Both sides had to make early first half changes due to minor injuries as neither side looked to back down from the challenge. The rest of the first half was a story of two penalties, firstly Rory Burston scored from the spot in the 24th minute to give Alsancak the lead but Torres then did the same for Reggae Reggae Sauce in the 42nd minute to send the sides in level at the break. The game was won or Alsancak early in the 2nd half. Firstly Noble shot home in the 49th minute from a Muamba corner then more RRS indiscipline left Taylor to score from a 55th minute free kick, Reggae Reggae sauce fans will again be worried by their managers apparent lack of attention to the team especially given that only having one sub was exposed when Preetnav picked up a late injury but there was no one to replace him. Alsancak will look to pick up momentum from this victory and hope for victory next game.

Kilie_gers managed to park his Pink Bus into the promotion slots with an away win at Rolling Thunder. All the scoring was done in the first half with Pink bus Riders taking early command, firstly Eaves scored in the 11th minute following a quick break by Fornander and just 3 minutes later the lead was doubled when Daly neatly tucked away a penalty. Pink Bus then had to make two changes due to injuries and this disorganization may have led to the wrong player being out of position and a poorly timed challenge led to a 39th minute Rolling Thunder penalty that was duly converted by Mikel. Pink Bus riders though quickly re-established their two goal lead when a training ground set piece move saw Abadiotakis score after being set up by Berber. This was the end of the scoring as Pink Bus saw out the second half to record victory. Kilie_gers then revealed he had gone back to university and spoke at length about the intricacies of the game of football.

FCR Cressex also got themselves off to a winning start but again had to readjust to suit an early injury with Levein having to be replace by Boccaccini. The only goal of a tight game came in the 47th minute as a well worked set piece move saw Rojas tee up Valsson to score. AFC Boo Boys rarely looked threatening and whilst Cressex could not add to their lead they did enough to limit Boo Boys chances and come away with the points. Cressex now take on Pink Bus riders whilst Boo Boys will try to get their season started away at London gunners.

Juventus where the days other winners with victory in a tight home game against London Gunners. The Gunners missed an excellent chance to open the scoring when Vuckovic failed to convert from the penalty spot in the 6th minute. Juventus where struggling to get going in the first half and life looked pretty grim when they had to make a change for an injury to Culshaw in the 58th minute. However more positive news was to follow and they got the games only goal from a well worked free kick move Namli the scorer in the 61st minute. London gunners could not muster any more offense and the game finished 1-0. Neither manager was available for comment but both will ultimately be looking for better displays from their teams in coming matches.

Anime Allstars and Tottenham Hotspur played out a game which was very short on chances. All the talking points in this game came in the form of injuries and a sending off. Tottenham made the first change as Dawson limped off before they saw themselves reduced to ten men when Master saw straight red in the 58th minute. Allstars also had to make two late changes due to minor injuries but non e of the injuries picked up in the match look like they will keep players out for long. Despite picking up a straight red card Tottenham will only have to live without Master for one game which will be a relief to their manager. Both sides will be looking for more entertaining matches to come.
