Kirkbride Strollers claimed top spot in Division Two after a magnificent 2-1 away win at Manchester United. Securing Manager of the Round for his tactical performance Jazza1958 will be delighted with his side's win. Billy Maneater headed home after 37 minutes after they had withstood some early United chances. The second-half was better for the Strollers as they asserted themselves on the game. Strangely enough, though, they found themselves pegged back after Walid Muhsin escaped his marker and finished well for a battling home side. However, a late penalty from Dennis MacAvery was enough to win the match and send Kirkbride away with the three points.
Slipping from the top spot are The Vikings who fell to a 3-1 defeat at an in-form Real Madrid FC. The only goal of the first-half fell to the visitors. Clint Bonavia netting his third of the season to give his side the half-time lead. The second-half was a different animal as Madrid laid seige to The Vikings goal. An early equaliser from Willie Rhodes set the tone for the half and things would only get worse for the visitors. Bonavia was to be sent-off as they conceded two late goals. Alexander Connely and Rhodes again on the scoresheet as Madrid moved up the table.
Level on points with Madrid are Pahang United after a tough battle with AJ Rovers. Despite creating all the game's chances Pahang could not find the finishing touch as Rovers held firm for an important point. With neither side pushing for promotion it looks to be at the other end of the table where their focus will lie for the remainder of the season.
Falling into the relegation zone are Kensington Boys Club. The man with the midas touch struck again as Buttons led his Liverpool side into the top three. Kenny Dalglish scored his fourth goal of the season to send the hosts on the way. In truth it was a tight encounter but a long range effort from Dirk Kuyt sealed the win for a satisfied Buttons, "2-0, into the promotion places." said the matter-of-fact manager.
Moving off the bottom are Kroklund Kings. Taking advantage of a poor Ripplenet side the hosts scored a goal in each half. Curt Elliott netting in the first before turning provider for Michel de Nostredame in the second. Only five points from safety is there still time for Kroklund to produce a Houdini-like effort and escape?
