Please Don't Go!

Darren Calvert was last seen trying to put together an internet campaign to persuade retiring Enok Vahlstrom into changing his mind. Vahlstrom again played a massive part in F.C. Greatness' latest success, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win at Three Lions FC. Three Lions had the better of the chances but paid the ultimate price for not taking them. Front two Robin van Izu and Izuhimovic both had a bad day at the office as Vahlstrom took centre stage. A free-kick winner after 23 minutes giving him his eleventh goal in eleven games this season and left manager Calvert purring, "With these performances, every team fears him, he's unstoppable!"

Despite their victory, Greatness remained in second as AFC Stanley put in an accomplished display to dispose of Newry City 4-0. Denying the away side any look at their goal, Stanley themselves shared the glory round. Jon MacClintock, Olli Kaskinen, Thorbjorn Lind and Ignado Puntas all hitting the target in the victory. Markham was obviously delighted but spared a thought for his opposing number, "They were missing two of their better strikers through injury.....but my lads were awesome."

Santos FC closed the gap on Three Lions to a single point with a narrow 2-1 win at Juventus. Despite having the better of the chances Santos made hard work of their eventual victory. Going behind to a Mairthin Foley free-kick, Santos then saw Adriano Ribeiro injured as the day threatened to turn sour. A resilient second-half display, however, took them to victory. Goals from Sonny Ozzinho and Torbjorn Alshammar made Benicio Correa's late sending-off irrelevant.

Tropical Thunder's manager jokingly bemoaned his luck this week as their whipping boy opponents found a new manager before their match just as Joe was "ready to play a managerless team and get an easy 3 points." Ocs18's debut as Goals Aloud manager turned out to be eventful as both sides went for the throat in a goal-fest. Howard Harrell saw his opener for Aloud cancelled out by the home side's Geovany Dainelli. Inspired by their manager Aloud retook the lead through a Bruce Weatherstone shot. The second-half resumed in the same fashion as Horatio Minotti equalised for Thunder before heading them in front only two minutes later. Their joy was to only last a minute as Dustin Digby headed in for the visitors to make sure both sides would end up with a point.

FC Joga Bonito took advantage of playing pointless Royal Navy by dishing out a six goal thumping. The star of the show was undoubtedly Demetrio Delpiano who scored five of the six goals to increase his legendary status at the club. Oscar Cervantes was the other scorer as Joga moved to within three points of Three Lions in a very open promotion race. It may be that Jimmy was only half-joking when he announced, "FC Joga Bonito for the title!" just a few days ago.
