Final Preview- WBS Match Programme

West Brom Strollers vs Arsenal UK
RMI Cup Final
9th October, Kick Off 18:30
The Hawthorns

Road To The Final

Norfolk N Chance 0-6 WBS

A game which could have produced a slip up of epic proportions was seen out comfortably by WBS. With each midfielder scoring and creating a goal the team was looking strong in the middle of the pitch and also looking strong upfront as Lee Hughes banged in two efforts in a routine game against a weak opposition with a very young squad.

WBS 2-0 Totaalvoetball

Another clean sheet that showed that WBS were going to be strong challengers for the cup. Possession of the ball was evidently a key issue in this game, an issue which WBS won. As a result of this WBS outclassed a side in the same division as them with nine chances to one. Lee Hughes continued his scoring run with a second goal in the second half while Tony Brown converted a 10th minute penalty to set WBS on their way into the Quarter-Finals.

Real Madrid 1-2 WBS

Real Madrid ran WBS close in an enthralling encounter at the Santiago Bernabau. WBS dominated again as a result of winning the vicious battle in the midfield, however the team did suffer at the hands of conceding their first goal in the competition as Teige Aran steered his header towards the goal to cancel out Billy Bassett’s opening goal for the visitors. However after dominating most of the match WBS took the lead in the 84th minute through an Asa Hartford header. Both the teams produced good performances but WBS deserved the victory despite Real Madrid’s defensive display.

WBS 2-0 ThunderCats

A victory against the league champions in a tight encounter shows that WBS deserve the right to be here in the final. There were no chances in the first half despite some good play from both teams. The deadlock was broken from a dead ball situation, Billy Bassett silencing the away fans with a beautifully executed free-kick. And in the 84th minute the result was sealed as Bobby Taylor netted to end ThunderCats’ dreams of back to back cup wins. WBS are here on merit with a fine display against the league champions and can be credited again to the midfield battle being won yet again.

Arsenal UK Factfile
• The team has been around for only one season and have already gained promotion to Division 2.
• The club’s all time high scorer is Robin Van Persie with 13 goals• Andrey Arshavin is the club’s top assister of all time with 13.
• The club have played a team from every division en route to the final.

Arsenal UK will pose a potent attacking threat against WBS so the team need to be on their guard as they shape up against Arsenal UK. The defence is not as strong as most of the other team’s defences but the players always perform well enough to grind out results when needed and also are good enough to create the chances needed to win games. This game will test the WBS players who will need to be on top form to win against a side capable of winning against most teams. This promises to be an exciting first leg with plenty of talking points.
