Wortley Bag Title

Wortley won Division Three in style as they romped to a 5-0 win at Alsancak. Walter Willock fired an early effort wide before Klyde Krippner forced Cirkovic into a save as the visitors flew out of the blocks. A back-heel by Willock ended up off-target before the opening goal arrived on 24 minutes courtesy of a driving shot by Krippner. Andrew Taylor tried to reply for the hosts but his first free-kick was saved by Jenning and the cat would also punch away his second effort. Krippner would continue to fire the efforts in on goal and was unlucky with a side-footed effort on 38 minutes which struck the woodwork. They would get their second goal on 41 minutes, though, as Jake Shiver powered in a header and they would go into the half-time break very happy with their position. Alsancak had the first chance after the break but Jenning would be the equal of Rory Burston’s header. Paulinho Santos would then hit the angle at the other end from a free-kick before Shiver’s steered shot was saved by Cirkovic. Santos would have another effort on 55 minutes but he would put his header wide although Willock would make it 3-0 two minutes later with a finely placed shot. Santos did get his goal on 65 minutes by chipping over Cirkovic while Willock put a chip of his own just over as they remained dominant. Santos would add a fifth from a brilliant free-kick on 70 minutes and although Taylor had a free-kick chance at the other end he would put it over and Wortley would emerge triumphant. Thegtreatlordbags was in ‘disbelief’ at his title winning side but the manager also added that they had ‘played well all season’ before adding that they will ‘need to strengthen’ ahead of the challenge of a higher division. Wienersnitzel will still be happy with his side’s season despite this defeat although their final position of seventh appears a little harsh on a side who have belied their years.

Gooners saw their title bid fall at the last as 1863 Munich raided Highbury for a 3-2 success. An even contest began with Munich opening the scoring on five minutes; Turlough Daly lobbing in a header over the helpless Seaman. Thierry Henry responded in fine fashion for the home side as he lobbed over Blacksmith just 13 minutes later. The game continued to ebb-and-flow with Fabrizio Gualtieri firing a curled shot just wide for the visitors before Steve Bould put a volley off-target for Gooners. Munich saw Stephane Aoudou put a free-kick over the bar before a toe-poke by Seth Eaves restored their advantage. The second-half opened with Iain Wright lashing a free-kick against a post for the hosts as they looked for a way back into the contest. However, Munich would catch them off guard as Gualtieri produced a diving header to beat Seaman and put them 3-1 ahead. Still the home side wouldn’t give in, though, and they received a boost as Willy Windsor was red carded for the home side for simulation. The home side tried to take advantage but Gilberto Silva put a diving header wide. Nelutu Cristea would give them a helping hand by putting through his own goal but time ran out on Gooners’ title challenge. FMRealism wasn’t too downcast following the defeat and explained that it ‘was a great season (for him) and the title was always just a bonus.’ Anderson will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Gooners by leading his side to promotion next season after an encouraging first campaign in charge and he said that he was 'looking forward to it already.'

Dream Team finished their promotion campaign with a 3-2 defeat at Rolling Thunder. The home side were in fine form and put in a strong opening 45 minutes to take control of the contest. Danilo Bauza chipped against the angle from their first chance while Warren Wish hit a wild half-volley at the other end. Francois Rouland would also have a chipped effort for the hosts but he put it over the bar although they would take the lead as Jovan Gagic toe-poked home in the area on 27 minutes. Thunder continued to impress and Benjamin Unesson was unfortunate with his lob which struck the woodwork on 37 minutes but they would find their second goal on 42 minutes courtesy of another lob this time from Rouland. Rouland would begin the second-half in similar fashion as his chip hit the angle and bounced to safety. Bauza would extend their lead on the hour-mark with a brilliant volley as they looked to put the game safe. However, the DT would find a response and Wish pulled a goal back with a clinical strike in the area on 64 minutes. Wish would then hit a post with a further effort while Ludo Cappellacci headed off-target for the hosts. Kris Krafty would continue the comeback for DT by sliding home after a corner but Dudley Dream could only put a header over with the final chance of the game as they slid to a 3-2 defeat. This defeat won’t concern MrJames, though, and he will celebrate his promotion before getting down to the business of planning how to succeed in Division Two next season. Vehusheia begins his first full campaign in charge next season and after some encouraging results there could be bright times ahead for fans of the Thunder.

Morley completed their campaign with a 1-1 home draw against EspAda. They would play second-fiddle for a large part of the first-half as EspAda played with a confidence belying a side in their position. Patric Torebring gave EspAda a seventh minute lead with a clever chip following a breakaway move and it might have been better for the visitors but Geoffrey Stile’s header hit a post. Art Boyle mishit the only chance Morley would get but it looked like fooling Newell before brushing a post. The visitors were soon back on the attack and they forced Reno Robredo into a hurried back pass which went close before Torebring hit the woodwork with a flick header. Stiles would have the final effort of the half and could only look on in despair as his half-volley struck a post but they would still go in a goal to the good. However, the second-half would be an entirely different animal as Morley found their rhythm. Florian Arnautu had a powerful shot saved by Newell before the cat excelled again to deny Mitchell Pennock’s powerfully curled shot. Zacharias Ashe would smash an effort against a post as they continued to attack and Gwilym Cullip forced Newell into a further save from a free-kick. EspAda did look as though they had made it 2-0 on 74 minutes but Torebring was flagged offside somewhat dubiously and they would pay the price. Arnautu would drill in a long range shot on 90 minutes and Morley might even have pinched the win had Cullip put a free-kick effort slightly lower. Leeg21 will look back on the campaign and think what might have been but he is sure to have his side looking stronger than ever at the start of next season. Malteseexpert was relieved of his duties following the game and the club will now hope to appoint a manager prepared to take them forward.

Norfolk won their first game of the season at the final time of asking as they defeated Jammas AllStars 2-1 at Hoppitop ground. In a game of few chances both sides would show decent composure in front of goal. Zoli Denes did put the first chance over the bar for the hosts when faced with a tight angle and the game would remain goalless at the break. However, Andy Howe would put Norfolk in front from an excellent diving header on 65 minutes and this lead would become two as Yajo Juanjo powered in a brilliant shot just eight minutes later. AllStars did try to rally late on and Elliot Vasa pulled a goal back by heading past Clemens with ease. They would then force one last chance to pinch a point but Teobaldo Bispo put his header too close to the ‘keeper and Norfolk had secured their first three-pointer of the season. Howemiester will be buoyed by this but much of his side’s future will depend on change report events. Jamma will now begin his period of reconstruction after a tough first season in charge but the manager has the talent to turn it around quickly.

Mighty Mojos finished their season in fine style with a 4-0 victory over FCR Cressex. Ledley Hodson curled in a beautiful opener on six minutes while Lauro Poggi shot wide at the other end. Michel Montolio hit a free-kick too close to Clooney before Myles Allott mishit a shot wide as Mojos kept up their attacking intent. The second-half opened with Terrance Norman powering in a long range shot to double the home side’s lead before Poggi replied again, this time hitting a post. Tomas Tiribocchi would then force Housham into a decent save before Mojos went back on the front foot with a diving header by Norman going close. Mojos would make it 3-0 on 77 minutes as Hodson rifled in a penalty to put the game out of sight. There was still time for more chances and Montolio had already put a free-kick off-target by the time Abraham Axhorn had made it 4-0 with a precise header. This turned out to be the last act of the Mojos’ season and the fans stood to salute Joshy at the final whistle and anticipate more success in his first full season in charge next term. Villan_RAS will be looking for Cressex to be more consistent next term and will perhaps add a signing or two to help them on their way in the silly-season.
