Totaal Sitting Preety

Totaalvoetbal eased to a 2-0 away success at Reggae Reggae Sauce which relegated the home side.

The game got off to a bad start for the home side as Eddy Grant was forced off with an injury after a crunching challenge by Raymond Putnam which earned him a yellow card.

The sides then traded chances as Shivan Preetnav had a miss-hit shot miss while Terry Jenkins couldn’t capitalise on a free-kick.

A powerful header from Johan Juffing forced RRS into a save while Jenkins did likewise at the other end. As the game continued to to-and-fro, Juffing then let fly with a low shot which was centimetres wide.

Totaalvoetbal were to miss further chances through Preetnav and a Horacio Metelo free-kick which crashed off the bar. Preetnav was to make amends, though, by converting a Shirsh Vajpayee corner to give them a 1-0 half-time lead.

This quickly became 2-0 after the break as Vajpayee headed home a Metelo corner on 49 minutes.

Jenkins was leading a lone crusade at the other end and, again, forced Leemans into work with a shot on goal. It was to be Leemans’ final act as he suffered an injury due to a Frank Gerrard challenge which earned him a yellow card.

There was to be further chances in the final moments. Pierre van Diemen and Vajpayee both forced RRS into work with decent headers before Ronaldo struck a post at the other end in a final act of defiance.

At the final whistle Meeblind indicated he was content with the way things were shaping up:

“Everything is going to plan. Obviously form can be improved upon but we are hopeful of a decent change and then, with a bit of cash, we’ll see where we need to strengthen.”
