A 9 goal thriller put These Charming Men within touching distance of Division 2 today, The Champs did not make it easy for them and pushed them until the final minutes of injury time.
The game started badly for TCM, 3 minutes in inspirational midfield man Jordi Rodri was stretchered from the field not, with a serious knee injury that puts him out for the rest of the season. Rodri was replaced with the very able Linus Steicher.
3 minutes later TCM were shocked into action, a superb break by Luis Barron put the away side 1-0 up, almost immediately after kick off TCM were back on level terms Loran Rajabi showing boss RDCM his worth since his recall with a great header which The Champs keeper Sebastian Irving could only watch fly into the net.
Lientur Riatal nearly made it 2-1 for TCM in the 17th with a neat header after a precise cross from Streicher, however Irving saved comfortably.
Neither side could break through for another 18 minutes, until some rare sloppy defending gave away a freekick on the edge of the box, Champs striker Leigh Ellefson firing straight at the TCM keeper Burt Challis.
Half time score 1-1, no one was prepared for the topsy-turvy second half to come.
2 minutes after the break TCM midfielder Gregory Jonay made it 2-1 a superb diving header following a precise cross from Juan-José Galiano.
Jonay was booked for a dangerous tackle on Said Qahbadaik a fews minutes later, The Champs defender out for the rest of the season.
In the 58th minute Juan-José Galiano.made it 3-1 with another header after a cross from Constantino Gris, but just 3 minutes later The Champs had the ball in the TCM net with a great header from Leigh Ellefson, his second of the game. Burt Challis perplexing at his defence, for the space given.
Ellefson made it 3-3 with his hat trick 3 minutes later, a driving shot leaving the increasingly disheartened Challis for dead.
Chances came at either end for both sides, Tord Jakobson getting 2 free kicks in the net on 69 and 86 minutes making in 5-3.
Not to be outdone The Champs kept pushing forward and got their rewards in the 5th minute of injury time, hat trick hero Ellefson setting up midfielder Barros for a 95th minute header.
The ref immediately blew the final whistle, TCM fans stayed behind to applaud their side which need 1 point to be assured of promotion.
Boss RDCM was lost for words after the game….. initially. “Good, good, good, nearly there and time to give a few fringe players a runout me thinks” As news filtered through of Wandsworths home win against Dreamteam RDCM congratulated LotharIstvan on his sides Championship wining exploits and looks forward to meeting them next season.
