AFC Stanley held
Yorkshire Amateurs rounded off their season with a draw against AFC Stanley earlier this evening. In fairness, the hosts probably should have taken home the three points, and would have had it not been for Fred Franklin’s scuffed effort on 31 minutes. The game had a real end of season feel to it and petered out long before the end as both sides looked jaded after a long, hard season. The Amateurs will look back on the season with some disappointment. They finished the season with only one defeat in 9 but an inability to kill teams off earlier in the year meant they limped to a mid table finish.Danlufc13 told the waiting press, “Next season has to be better, my players can head off to the sun now, there will be no La Manga type incidents with these lads though, they’re consummate professionals and I expect us to hit the ground running when they return. A top three finish is where we want to be and with a good change report we might just be able to manage it”.
